La Prova 'Rusco' Barbera 2016
La Prova ‘Rusco’ Barbera 2016
Rusco Barbera is a member of our ‘Uno’ collection of wines which reflect an exceptional union of grower, vineyard site and variety. Here being Simon and Cecelia Berry, Kuitpo and Barbera.
In an Italian dialect Rusco & Brusco has a meaning similar to Yin & Yang. I find this perfectly captures the balancing nature between the fruit and opulence of Barbera contrasting the nervy firmness of Nebbiolo.
Barbera, historically grown in Piedmont, in the north of Italy, finds an ideal home in the Berry Vineyard in Kuitpo, a cool southern sub-region of the Adelaide Hills.
It’s got some juicy red and dark fruits and a textural savoury note on the finish.
Hand-picked, destemmed, wild ferment and 45 days on skins to tame the natural acid.
48 dozen produced.
